Synopsis: Pirates of Penzance (Gilbert and Sullivan’s) follows Frederic, who leaves his piratical apprenticeship, only to discover his birthdate is on a leap day, requiring him to remain with the pirates for decades. He falls for Mabel, the Major-General’s daughter, but the family is initially threatened by the pirates. The Major-General tricks the pirates into releasing the girls by claiming to be an orphan, but the pirates learn the truth and seek revenge, leading to a climactic confrontation resolved when it’s revealed the pirates are actually noblemen who are gone wrong.
