We will be showing the BBC filmed version of the opera “Falstaff” by Giuseppe Verdi

Synopsis: Giuseppe Verdi’s Falstaff is a comedic opera based on Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, with elements from Henry IV. The plot revolves around the bankrupt knight Sir John Falstaff, who attempts to seduce two wealthy married women, Alice Ford and Meg Page, in order to improve his financial situation. The women discover his identical love letters and, with the help of Mistress Quickly, plot to expose and humiliate him. The opera culminates in a series of comical mishaps and deceptions, ultimately leading to Falstaff’s self-realization and acceptance of his folly.
