Mr. Stowe has always had a passion for the Hudson River, having lived on its shores and worked on the M.V. Commander for many years. This collection features a variety of historical images that show some sights and ships, and events that have occurred around Cornwall. Our area has been influenced in many ways by the River. From the riverfront docks bringing tourists to savor our highlands location, to looming Storm King Mountain, we are blessed with natural beauty. Some of the topics include the Hudson Fulton Celebration in 1909 and the vessels that plied the river. Steam boats were vital to the economy of the region and Mr. Stowe has selected a few for the exhibit. Storm King mountain is shown in historical scenes. Cornwall was blessed with Nathanial Parker Willis who wrote about its healthy environment.
