Synopsis: Bluebeard’s Castle by Béla Bartók is a two-character psychological drama about Duke Bluebeard’s new wife, Judith, who presses him to open the seven locked doors of his castle. As each door opens, she discovers horrifying aspects of Bluebeard’s past, such as a torture chamber, an armory stained with blood, and a treasury. The seventh door reveals his three former wives, and Judith joins them, leaving Bluebeard alone in darkness.
